Description

Struggling to get the perfect fit across the bust? Join us for a one-day FBA (Full Bust Adjustment) masterclass designed especially for larger-busted sewists. If you’re tired of tops that fit your chest but swamp the rest of you, or you’ve heard of FBAs but don’t know where to start, this class is for you.

You’ll learn how to carry out an FBA with confidence, working on both darted and princess-seamed bodices. We’ll start with small-scale practice patterns to master the method before applying it to your own chosen pattern.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to take accurate measurements
  • How to choose the right pattern size
  • Tissue fitting techniques
  • How to calculate and apply an FBA
  • How to spot and handle related fit issues

Please note: We’ll be sewing a toile (test bodice), not a finished garment. Sleeve adjustments won’t be covered in detail, but we’ll touch on them if time allows.

Is this class for you? Perfect for confident beginners through to experienced sewists. You should be comfortable using sewing patterns and ideally have made some garments before. Basic fit adjustments experience is helpful but not essential.

What to bring:

  • A fitted or semi-fitted top/dress pattern, preferably one you’ve made and want to improve
  • The garment (if already made)
  • 1-2m Swedish tracing paper (available in store on the day)
  • 1m calico or similar for toile (available in store on the day)
  • HB pencil, eraser, coloured pencils or pens
  • Swedish paper and calico will be available to buy or borrow on the day.
